I know A Famous Westerner

Description:
A great way to understand the Western movement is to learn about a famous person who lived in that period. You not only become familiar with that person but also the times in which he or she lived in.
    
You will be selecting a famous Westerner from the list below. You will learn about that person and then using the APP Explain Everything tell about your famous westerner.   When your project is finished you should have explain everything about your famous Westerner.   

Use the outline below to help you research important information about that Westerner. You do not have to include all of the following in your report.  Use the out line as a guide.  When you are done you should have a minimum of 6 slides. Also, do not get too fancy with the font style. Keep the font to a basic one that is readable. 

 BIOGRAPHICAL OUTLINE:
1.  Youth:  Birthplace and date
2.  Home life and experiences:  parents, brothers and sisters, places lived (parts of the country, farm or town),
circumstances (rich or poor, important events)
3.  Schooling (when, how much)
4.  Western adventures:
  • Frontier Experiences
  • Adventures and travels in the west
  • Dangers faced (give details)
  • Friends-companions
5.   Reasons for fame:
  • Accomplishments (describe)                                                
  • Leadership experiences
  • Greatest challenges faced (and details)
  • Interesting Facts and stories
6.    End of Life:
  • Death
  • Age at death
  • Facts about death

DO THE RESEARCH:
Before you start planning your slides do the research first.  
  
Choose a pioneer, explorer, mountain man, Native American, cowboy, gold miner, adventurer, or other Westerner from the list. Use encyclopedias, biographies, the Internet and other sources to find information about the person. Use the above outline to help guide your research.  Try to keep in mind good essential questions while you work.
1.  Why is my figure famous?
2.  What historical events and how did what was going on in society affect the person’s struggles/achievements
3.  What lasting impact did your figure leave on society?
